The Better Buys for Business report has summarised the Océ 3165E as an impressive networkable digital copier recommended as a "fine copier with upgrade potential". They have added, "Like most Océ copiers, the Océ 3165E boasts excellent productivity". In 2001, the award issuers wrote, "The Océ 3165E performed splendidly on our copier tests, operating at more than 90 per cent of rated speed on all four 20-set tests" in the high-volume copier and multi-functional category.
