Océ among frontrunners in Dutch Transparency Benchmark

Since 2004 the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs has organized an annual Transparency Benchmark to assess companies’ transparency in terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR). The primary sources for this benchmark are the companies’ annual reports and sustainability reports.

Compared to the previous year, Océ’s score increased from 73 to 75 points (100 points being the maximum score). This improvement is a.o. due to the fact that Océ reported on its sustainability dilemmas and on stakeholder dialogue in its Sustainability Report 2008. Océ’s relative position on the ‘transparency ladder’ therefore improved from the 16th position to the 11th position, bringing Océ in the group of frontrunners. Océ is the best scoring company in the ‘technology’ sector.

In 2009 annual financial statements and sustainability reports of 183 companies (of which 84 with stock exchange listing) were examined. Criteria include vision and strategy, corporate governance and management systems, social and environmental impacts, supply chain responsibility, independent verification, and stakeholder dialogue.

The criteria of this examination are in line with the Annual Report Guideline 400 (Richtlijn 400 Jaarverslag), the Guide to Sustainability Reporting (Handreiking voor Maatschappelijke Verslaggeving), and the GRI Guidelines.
