Océ customer ABC Imaging invests in Canon production printing systems

London, 21 November 2011— Océ customer ABC Imaging has invested in two Canon imagePRESS C7010VPS systems, the first in the UK that incorporate an Océ PRISMAsync controller matching the productivity and functionality of the same controller on the black & white perfecting Océ VarioPrint 6000 series production printer.

ABC Imaging is a commercial and reprographics printer as well as on-site print management company and based in Britton Street in the city of London. It is also a major user of Océ wide format systems, including three Océ ColorWave 600 production systems, and other mono and colour systems including two Océ VarioPrint 6250s.

The Océ ColorWave 600 printing systems also benefit from an online folding system, which means plans and other documents are folded immediately at the touch of a button.

All the systems were producing customers’ live work during an open evening at ABC Imaging. Guests included representatives from international banks, retail outlets, the legal sector, architects, construction and engineering companies.

Ray Hawkins, the UK Director of the company formerly called Mediashore, said:

“In the last 18 months we have cut our overheads significantly through automation and best working practices while investing heavily in new technology to provide improved productivity and quality for our customers. And we’ve got the best print systems on the market. We’re proud to be Océ’s only customer in Europe with three ColorWave 600s, among the first customers for the VarioPrint 6250, which is the best mono system we’ve ever come across, and now the first customer in the UK to have two Canon imagePRESS printers with the Océ PRISMAsync controller.

“All the infrastructure is in place. We’re just a short step from something else really good happening and in a better position than we’ve been in 10 years of business.”

ABC Imaging President and CEO Medi Falsafi, who flew in from America especially for the event, said: “Whereas everybody seems to be cutting back, we are continuing to invest. I am very positive about the future and know there are terrific opportunities for us, particularly in developing countries. The best defence is having an excellent offensive.”

The new Canon imagePRESS C7010VPS systems complement investments in other Océ print and scanning systems, as well as a complete suite of Océ PRISMA production software, including PRISMAprepare and PRISMAaccess. The Océ PRISMA workflow software supports ABC Imaging’s business for receiving customer orders, pre-flight checking and production control.

Craig Nethercott, Director of Océ UK Production Printing, said: “ABC Imaging knows its markets well and has continued to invest. Digital continues to be a growth opportunity and I was delighted to see first-hand what’s been achieved at this company, which benefits from being able to use high quality and productive digital technology.”
