BERTL and IF honour Océ’s all-in-one large format portfolio with prestigious awards
Océ changes the rules of large format printing with its completed portfolio
Venlo, The Netherlands, 11 May 2010 - Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced that its all-in-one large format portfolio is well appreciated by industry observers. With the recent launch of the Océ ColorWave® 300, Océ extended its single footprint offering for small workgroups with a colour capable solution. Together with the Océ PlotWave® 300, the B&W single footprint solution that was introduced in 2009, can be combined with Océ Repro Desk® Studio, an easy-to-use, entry-level, job submission workflow solution. Offering this complete product range enables Océ to perfectly meet the needs of engineering, construction and manufacturing customers.
Industry watchers have acknowledged the uniqueness of these Océ products with a number of prestigious awards. The Océ PlotWave was honoured with the “Best Eco-Friendly Wide Format Printer” and a “Five Star” rating by BERTL, as well as an iF product design award. The Océ ColorWave 300 won an iF product design award, considered to be Europe’s most important design prize.
According to BERTL the exceptional rating is reserved exclusively for devices that deliver an outstanding range of business-critical features and functions, are innovative, easy to use, well-designed and represent exceptional value for money for their target user base.
Océ changes the rules of large format printing with its completed portfolio
Traditionally vendors combined a number of hardware components to create a large format multi functional system. This resulted in dual (or even triple) footprints that were hooked up via a network or direct cabling. Even if so-called “single footprint” solutions were offered, those systems were not fully integrated and often mounted on special, space consuming frames. Furthermore, no attention was paid to the ergonomics for the operator and the finishing of the prints.
When developing the “all-in-one” product range, Océ applied four fundamental rules for large format printing which guarantee a flawless integration of the solution in the workflow at minimum cost and environmental impact.
The four rules are:
Minimise operational floorspace
Simplify the operator interaction
Reduce IT-complexity
Limit the number of interactions with suppliers.
Minimise operational floorspace
Operational footprint is the entire space needed to operate a printer. It includes the area around the printer needed to load new media rolls or stack the prints. Océ single footprint systems have the lowest operational footprint in the industry, saving customers' valuable floor space. The systems feature a fully-integrated scanner on top of the printer, complete operation from the front of the system and neat document stacking on top of the system. One operational footprint saves space
Simplify the operator interaction
Operator interaction involves all activities that a user has to perform to get prints, copies or scans. This includes sending prints from application software or archives, managing the print queue, making copies & scans, loading media, etc. Océ single footprint systems enable customers to control their printing, copying and scanning from a single user interface, instead of three separate interfaces. One user interface reduces learning curves as well as the chance of errors. The Océ single footprint systems feature an efficient scroll and click user panel.
With a single desktop application, jobs can be sent to the printer or a reprographer and distributed digitally around the world. Océ Repro Desk Studio enables simultaneous printing to multiple wide and small format devices, colour and black & white, Océ and non-Océ printing systems. In addition, it provides a fully-integrated accounting package, and offers advanced submission features like automatic job splitting and easy load balancing. One user interface saves time.
Reduce the IT-complexity
The complexity of IT support depends largely on the number of systems that must be supported. Not only monitoring the status of the systems but also updating drivers, firmware and helpdesk support can become a burden when a large number of systems need to be supported. The Océ single footprint systems enable IT Departments to manage the printer, scanner and copier from a single IP address, instead of three separate addresses. One simple connection reduces the required IT support and the fact that only one power cable is needed. A standard USB connection facilitates mobility and flexibility. One simple connection reduces IT support
Limit the number of interactions with suppliers
Having to work with multiple suppliers potentially creates a number of issues. Not only will time be wasted on double communication, but in case of problems with the system, fingerpointing might occur. On top of that, companies will have to administrate multiple contracts, consumable stock, media purchases, etc. Océ is a one-stop supplier for hardware, software, support and consumables, offering a complete portfolio, colour and black & white. One supplier solves it all
