Océ sponsors Manchester architects’ lecture series

Brentwood, Essex, 6 March 2009— Océ, a world leader in printing, software and management systems, has become the main sponsor of a series of lectures being organised by the Manchester Society of Architects (MSA).

The aim is to promote education and professional development through the events being held at CUBE (Centre for the Urban Built Environment) at 113-115 Portland Street, Manchester, or the neighbouring premises of the Manchester Digital Development Agency at 117-119 Portland Street.

Organised by MSA, a branch of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and sponsored by Océ www.oce.co.uk, the events are for architects and architectural students in Manchester.

The Océ Lecture Series involve presentations from selected architects and enables Manchester’s design community to network on a regular basis. The MSA also organises the annual MSA Design Awards at CUBE which showcases the talents of Mancunian architects and architectural students.

Philip O’Dwyer and David McCall, of Salford-based OMI Architects, www.omiarchitects.com will be the speakers at the MSA’s next event on 12 March 2009. Other presentations will be by Glenn Howells Architects www.glennhowells.co.uk on 23 April and from Seth Stein Architects www.sethstein.com on 14 May.

The Océ Lecture Series are a key part of the inaugural Manchester Architecture and Design Festival, www.madf.co.uk, which runs from 20 April to 23 May.

Simon Green, President of MSA, said: “The Lecture series wouldn’t go ahead without Océ’s support, which is welcomed by the MSA membership who are keen to be inspired by well known architects. We see this as an ongoing partnership that benefits both parties.”

Duncan Smith, Director of Océ UK’s Wide Format Printing, said: “The value in supporting local organisations like MSA is in helping to provide forums like the Océ Lecture Series.  These forums provide a place for like-minded people to discuss current and future best practices, to keep abreast of the latest architectural and technological advancements, build on their continual professional development and of course, simply to spend time socialising with like-minded people.”

Tickets for events available from misa.events@member.riba.org, telephone 0151 703 0107.
