Océ introduces single desktop for end user in wide format

Customers use single application for all technical document workflow activities

Venlo, The Netherlands, 26 November 2009 — Océ, an international leader in digital document management, today announced it has extended the functionality of its innovative wide format software package, Océ Client Tools, with printing directly to an Océ wide format device. The first printer supported with this functionality is the Océ PlotWave® 300 printer.

OCT_Icon_def.gifSingle desktop approach

In the past, end users had to use a variety of applications on their desktop to perform their day-to-day technical document workflow activities such as submitting a job to a printer, a reprographer, or on-line services. To simplify the workflow of the end user, Océ now provides a single desktop application that integrates these tasks. This reduces three things: the need to switch between applications, the learning curve and the error risk - saving time and money. Additional Océ products will be supported by this single desktop approach going forward.

Job submission to various destinations

The free Océ Client Tools software suite enables preparation, preview, and submission of technical document sets to various destinations. These job submission options include:

  • Local Océ printer. Prints sets directly to one Océ wide format printer (currently only the Océ PlotWave 300 is equipped).

  • Multiple in-house printers. Prints simultaneously to multiple printers connected via Océ Repro Desk Studio software, part of the Océ Repro Desk family of end-to-end print management software solutions.

  • In-house print centre. Sends sets of documents to be printed through Océ Repro Desk within in-house print centre.

  • External reprographer. Sends sets of documents to a reprographer via the internet to be printed through Océ Repro Desk.

  • Océ online services. Submits sets of files to the Océ Plan Center on-line service.

As part of the Océ Client Tools software suite, the Océ Publisher is a convenient Windows-based application for batch printing documents to the Océ PlotWave 300 printer.

The Océ Publisher supports many different file types, including PDF, DWG, DWF, DWFx, TIFF, and HPGL. For high-quality PDF processing and printing, it seamlessly integrates with Adobe Reader. Individual documents can be previewed before printing using the high-quality viewer with true WYSIWYP – What You See Is What You Print – that shows exactly how the selected printer will print, allowing accurate checking of document contents and print settings.
