Océ to host AFP Consortium Conference

The Consortium’s first-ever meeting in Europe is to be held at Océ in Poing

Poing, 1 October 2007 - Océ Printing Systems will host the AFP Consortium in Poing near Munich on 8 – 10 October 2007 for the Consortium’s first-ever session to be held in Europe. The meeting aims to move AFP forward on issues such as color management, support of ICC DeviceLink profiles and processing of PDF containers.

Advanced Function Presentation™ (AFP™) is the standard data format for the high-speed transaction printing industry used for printing bills, statements and other customer communications in black and white, business color and full process color. As shown at GraphExpo in September 2007, several products using the AFP Consortium’s architecture definitions of recent years are now reaching the market, creating more advanced workflows for variable data printing. Being open and standardized, AFP is a good basis for protecting investment in new technologies such as color. For Océ customers, the Consortium’s work results in functionality that harmonizes with high volume production workflows and Océ printing equipment. Océ has been participating in the AFP Consortium since its start in 2004 supporting IBM’s initiative for a collaborative development of the AFP™ architecture as an open standard.
