Océ demonstrates steady stream of innovation with new continuous feed solutions for TransPromo and Graphic Arts market
Océ stages innovation conference, unveiling new products to emphasize digital printing leadership
Océ, a global leader in digital document management and delivery, hosted an Innovation Show and Press & Analysts’ Conference at its Poing headquarters on 6 December, where the company officially launched its groundbreaking new digital presses – for superb quality and speed in black & white and full process color in the continuous-feed segment. With two European and two world premieres, the product launch renews Océ’s market leadership in Transaction and Direct Mail in high volume, high speed printing, while also reinforcing its commitment as an innovator to the fast-growing Graphic Arts market.
In his opening speech, Sebastian Landesberger, Chief Executive Officer Océ Printing Systems GmbH, recapped the company’s record-breaking success during the past year: “For the fourth year in a row, InfoTrends recognized us as the global leader in continuous feed production printing.” While stating that the core business for the market leader would remain high volume, high speed black & white printing, Sebastian Landesberger also emphasized the focus on strong growth markets in Graphic Arts, where Océ already leads the field in applications such as digital book production and digital newspapers.
Steady stream of innovation
Continuing its history as an industry leader, the latest products to emerge from the Océ innovation factory are the Océ JetStream™ for TransPromo and full-color Direct Mail and Océ ColorStream® 10000 full-color digital presses designed for the Graphic Arts market, as well as the Océ VarioStream® 8000 and Océ VarioStream 9710, which energize the black & white, high speed, high volume segment. The December show was a European premiere for all four of the systems.
Color – strong driver for the TransPromo market
“One-to-one communication is an increasingly important trend. The TransPromo revolution blends traditional transactional documents like invoices and statements with promotional messages”, stated Sebastian Landesberger. “With our new color offering we will have a strong growth driver for the dynamic TransPromo market.”
The brand-new Océ JetStream 1100/2200, making its global premiere at the December innovation show, delivers full process color at up to 150 meters per minute. The ultra high speed Océ JetStream color production systems are targeted to direct mail and transaction segments where high quality, productivity and lower operating costs are required, as well as to the book-on-demand and digital newspaper market. The Océ JetStream family uses state-of-the-art Océ DigiDotTM piezoelectric drop-on-demand inkjet technology that produces very small, variable drop sizes resulting in higher quality images, smoother half-tones and stunning color.
The second new color press is the Océ ColorStream 10000. Already launched to great acclaim in the USA, the Océ ColorStream 10000 sets new productivity and quality benchmarks for printing books, newspapers and marketing collateral (all traditional offset applications) in excellent full-color and black & white Graphic Arts quality. With its ability to switch to black & white within jobs – and to print at economical black & white prices – the new Océ ColorStream 10000 delivers best-in-class flexibility to the Graphic Arts market.
Black & white speed and productivity
Energizing the Océ VarioStream 9000 line-up with even more speed and productivity, the Océ VarioStream 9710 is now making its debut in Europe. One of the industry’s fastest toner-based black & white digital presses, the new system prints more than 1,400 A4 pages per minute, and delivers 80 percent more productivity for transactional and publishing applications. Faster turnaround for digital textbooks, letters, statements and other jobs helps print for pay operations deliver better service to their customers.
As well as launching new technologies, Océ is also renewing its focus on evolutionary development – with the new Océ VarioStream 8000 for high volume direct mail, billing and other transactional applications. This new family of printers delivers the fastest “Twin-able” simplex technology Océ has ever offered, extending Océ leadership in the continuous feed market.
"Océ is confident about the future", says Sebastian Landesberger, “we combine leading technology and software with the best workflow and business development solutions. Our company is market leader in the Transaction and Direct Mail markets and a digital innovator in Graphic Arts”.
